OVERVIEW

The Delta HF won six consecutive World Rally Championships from 1987 to 1992, becoming one of the most successful rally cars ever built and the absolute king of the World Rally Championship in those years. Those were the times when, after the abolition of the exciting and dangerous Group B, the world’s leading manufacturers joined Group A. There were nine different brands that joined but none could beat Lancia. It´s dominance was overwhelming.

But this Lancia has a history that makes it even more exclusive and a real unicorn. Of the 365 units of the Evoluzione II “Bianco Perla” manufactured, this Delta HF Integrale 1994 with just 316 kilometers on his odometer belonged to the two-time World Rally champion Massimo Biasion. It´s very rare to find a Delta HF Integrale Evoluzione II previous owned by a rally legend and with Lancia Classiche Certification. Rare, yes, but not impossible: this car is the perfect example.

“Miki” became WRC champion in 1988 and 1989 while racing Delta HF Integrales helping cement the legendary reputation of the Lancia model. Of the seventeen victories he obtained in the World Championship, fifteen were with the Group A Delta HF model.

As well as being an official driver for Lancia, Biasion was in charge of developing and permanently improving the performance of the Delta HF for six years.

FULL DETAILS

The thousands of kilometers of testing and pure racing made this Lancia a practically unbeatable thoroughbred. Bigger and better brakes, better turbo response, larger wheel arches, better weight distribution, widened tracks, optimized aerodynamics and a power distribution between axles of 47/53 percent were some of the developments later applied in the street versions. This is how the Evoluzione II was reached; it has undoubtedly become the most perfect and desired version of the Delta.

The heart of this Evoluzione II is an updated version of the Twin Cam 2-liter 16-valve turbo engine with timed sequential multipoint injection, self-adjusting injection times, automatic idling control, engine protection depending on the intake air temperature, ignition mapped with two dual output coils, three-way catalyst, pre-catalyst with lambda probe on the turbine output link and a new Garrett turbocharger cooled by water.

The 215 hp at 5750 rpm may not sound like much compared to today’s sports cars, but the numbers don’t quantify the driving thrills. In any case, 220 km/h top speed and less than 6 seconds to reach 100 km, added to the all-wheel drive, make this Lancia a roads predator.

Today, more than thirty years have passed since that glorious era, but Lancia’s winning spirit and Miki Biasion’s driving magic shine and live on in this Delta HF Integrale Evoluzione II. An iconic, unbeatable sport car with the particularity that its owner was the one who developed it and made it world champion. There is nothing more exclusive on wheels in this world.
